Mark Bode
Wizards, Lizards, and Broads

Opening reception: Friday, June 25th, 2010 from 7-10pm.

1:AM gallery invites you to the opening of Wizards, Lizards, and Broads: a 50-year retrospective of Mark and Vaughn Bode’s art. Wizards, Lizards, and Broads will showcase the characters that have been greatly influencing street art all over the world for the past three decades. There will be original art by Mark Bode and works by Vaughn Bode, which have never been viewed publicly. Special guest artists include Vincent Bode, KC Angel, Stan 153, King 157, and James O'Barr (creator of the Crow).

Mark Bode’s Thoughts on the upcoming Wizards, Lizards, and Broads Exhibition: Since this is the first ever Bode solo show in San Francisco, we decided not to hold back and are pulling out originals by my father Vaughn from the archives as well as some of my most favorite art pieces I’ve created over the past 32 years. We will be displaying original comic pages from Cobalt 60 (which will soon be a major motion picture by Universal), spray can paintings and original Vaughn sketches depicting the iconic Bode characters that are respected around the world as the very beginnings of hip hop subway art imagery. This is a must see show as Vaughn’s original art is rarely exhibited. Also on display will be never-before-seen-one-of-a-kind Bode PUMA kicks, signed giclee prints, and a Bode clothing launch hot off the press by TRUDE COLORS. Works will be of various price points, making the art accessible to both serious collectors and fans.

I am looking forward to this show and being together in a definitive art show with my father’s dear brother Vincent, and paying homage to the art of, who is not only my beloved father, but also a heads up to my spiritual and artistic guide, Vaughn Bode.

The opening reception of Wizards, Lizards, and Broads at 1:AM gallery begins on Friday, June 25th, 2010 from 7-10pm. The opening will be a 21+ event with DJ Don Kainoa on wheels of steel and the 1:AM bartenders serving up the drinks. The exhibit will be on display through July 31st, 2010.
