Cockatoo Island’s OUTPOST PROJECT 2011

OUTPOST PROJECT Art from the Streets

Cockatoo Island, Sydney Harbour, Australia

More than 150 of the world’s best street artists will transform the gritty, industrial canvas of Cockatoo Island into the biggest, freshest street art festival in the Southern hemisphere from 4 November to 11 December 2011, with static and live street art creations including aerosol art, stencilling, paste-ups, stickers, cup-rocking, sculpture and installations.

Over five big weeks, there’ll be exhibitions, installations, DJ’s, live entertainment and workshops for all ages, culminating with the Skateboarding Australia 2011 Pro/Am Tour Grand Final on 10 December. Cockatoo Island is a short ferry ride from Circular Quay and other harbour wharves.

Curated by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust’s programming team and aMBUSH Gallery, the artist line up includes work by street artist Banksy as part of the Oi You! Collection, being seen in Australia for the first time. International street artists Anthony Lister, Ethos, Kid Zoom, DMOTE and ROA will be in Sydney to create new work on Cockatoo Island for Outpost.
