The link is Universal, where as artists put their own consciousness into the creations as they make them, science theorizes it exists there allready.
An exhibition of new sculpture from a diverse selection of international artists including Mike Ballard, Carl D’Alvia, Dmitri Galitzine, Rowena Harris, Misha Hollenbach, Agata Madejska, Russell Maurice, Kate Merry and Murray O’Grady.
“If evolution is to work smoothly, consciousness in some shape must have been present at the very origin of things. Accordingly, we find that the more clear- sighted evolutionary philosophers are beginning to posit it there. Each atom of the nebula, they suppose, must have had an aboriginal atom of consciousness linked with it; and, just as the material atoms have formed bodies and brains by massing themselves together, so the mental atoms, by an analogous process of aggregation, have fused into those larger consciousnesses which we know in ourselves.”

Peek Gallery presents "I WISH I COULD TALK" by SuperDeux
Peek Gallery presents
"I WISH I COULD TALK"
by SUPERDEUX
On Thursday, September 1, Peek Gallery is thrilled to present "I WISH I COULD TALK" by multi-media French artist Sebastien Roux aka SuperDeux. Over the last year, The Summit has explored artistic collections with media, framed murals, hand-painted signs, and recently photography. With work spanning toys to television, SuperDeux introduces The Summit’s first exploration into graphic art and media with an eclectic collection of works centered around "Moody" - a seemingly playful hand-character who is inspired by its own visual power of trying to express and "iconify" everything. This show will feature limited edition hand screen printed wood panels, a set of resin sculptures, and an Interactive video installation created in collaboration with SecretFeature Studio.
Sebastien Roux’s work in animation and graphic art began in the late 90’s where it ultimately led him to superdeux.com. Roux’s dynamic spectrum of colors and comic shapes were not originally intended for commercial use, but Superdeux’s early work caught the eye of Pictoplasma – an online design catalogue considered to be the preeminent point of supply for advertising executives. Roux is now a resident of San Francisco, where he serves as Creative Director of mochimedia.com.
Several SuperDeux designs are available in the form of toys, prints and t-shirts at kidrobot and other stores worldwide.

Deth P. Sun "Smoke and Mirrors" exhibition at GR2
Smoke and Mirrors
New Works From Deth P. Sun
August 27 – September 21, 2011
Reception: Saturday, August 27, 6:30 – 10:00 pm
Giant Robot is proud to host Smoke and Mirrors, a joint show featuring new work by Bay area based artist Deth P. Sun. We’ve worked extensively with Deth P. Sun and cannot be happier to work with him once again. His works have always inspired and excited both art fans and passers by. Contrary to some beliefs, Sun’s work has vastly grew over the years and was featured in the Giant Robot Biennale 2 in 2009.
Deth P. Sun’s acrylic paintings on panels bring epic landscapes and cosmic occurrences into a private and personal world. Influenced by David Attenborough, as well as the Moomin series and films of Terry Gilliam, Deth seeks to create a fantasy world as a reflection of his own experiences and worldview. It is a place where cold mountains loom under the stars, cloaked figures arrive with the night, and lone dreamers struggle–a place where hope and belief still shine in dark times.
An opening reception for Sun will take place from 6:30 – 10:00 on Saturday, Aug 27th.

Nathan Stapley "The Same Gang" solo show at Gallery 1988 Venice
Nathan Stapley
The Same Gang: compartmentalizing pop-culture iconography
August 26th - September 10th
Nathan Stapley is back at Gallery1988 later this month with a brand new solo show! We've worked with Nathan for years in the Melrose and San Francisco locations, but this will be his first show at our Venice gallery and he's coming to town all the way from NYC, so you must come say hello. The show is called "The Same Gang: compartmentalizing pop-culture iconography" and features all new works, where Nathan brings your favorite pop-culture icons together by similar attributes. For example, in the "Dads" painting, Jack Torrance from The Shining, Darth Vader, and Homer Simpson are just a few of our all-time favorite pop-culture fathers hanging out at a backyard BBQ. And we couldn't be happier because it's such a great concept and perfect fit for G1988. Here are a few sneak previews to get you excited about the show...
"The Same Gang: compartmentalizing pop-culture iconography" featuring all new works by Nathan Stapley opens Friday, August 26th from 7-10PM.

Weird International Collage Show-Rotterdam
Weird International Collage Show-Rotterdam
A collective exhibition featuring Ashkan Honarvar, Cless, James Gallagher, Max-o-matic, Oliver Wiegner, Rubén B and Sylvia Stølan
August 26th to September 16th, 2011.
Opening: August 26th, 19H
In 1912, Picasso and George Braque decided to cut and paste pieces of paper from newspapers, magazines, fabrics and other materials to directly capture reality in his paintings, rather than copy it and distort it. At that time everything seemed a mere coincidence, an anecdote that nobody knew if it would survive the passage of the avant-garde, the passage of the art.
Early 1990s, artists such as Kara Walker, Greg Lamarche and Eduardo Recife, working with the Internet, with all the material that the digital age has made accessible to all. The main tools are still the same, scissors, glue and virtual paper, and now the material is infinite and always available. The Collage is already a very consolidated artistic technique within the discourse of contemporary art.
Nowadays, starting in Madrid, the Weird International Collage Show is travelling to Rotterdam, Barcelona and Berlin to exhibit what have been called "the raddest, most wonderful and transgressor exhibition of this season in Madrid".
Though the whole project is curated by Rubén B, each show is co-curated with a great artist to give it a brand new fresh vision, and this Weird Rotterdam Show is co-curated alongside with Ashkan Honarvar, artist based in this city, and includes work from both of them, Cless, James Gallagher, Max-o-matic, Oliver Wiegner and Sylvia Stølan. This makes the show bigger than than the previous one and most of the work is previously unseen.
The aim in the selection of the artists is pure creative originality. Now is time for you to check it.
Welcome to the Weird International Collage Show at Rotterdam!

Anthony Lister "Street Faces" solo show at Metro Gallery
Anthony Lister
Street Faces
22 August – 17 September
Opening: 24th August 6:30-8:30pm.
Famed Brisbane street artist Anthony Lister is back at Metro Gallery for his 2011 solo show, ‘Street Faces’ 22 August – 17 September.
The exhibition presents 35 new works, the majority of which depict portraits – a relatively new gallery subject for Lister. According to the artist, “Street Faces tells the story of my street portrait work around the world over the last decade – why I create it, how people react to it and what happens to it over time.” Lister’s street portrait work is currently the focus of Art & Australia’s cover image, indicating a broad acceptance, and support, for Australia’s top street artists.
Lister’s portraits are decorated with naive imagery and words. These works, the ‘Cap Me’ series, present images of how Lister’s street portraits often appear two or three years on from creation. Other artists tag, or add to street art work, a technique called ‘capping’, which is fundamental to the Street Faces exhibition.
